Dozens, if not hundreds, will bow to dangerous cold wind chills for a second day, including many in Northeastern Wisconsin. In neighboring Minnesota, Governor Mark Dayton cancelled school statewide today. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker briefly considered a similar move last week but decided against it.
Some people question closing schools for cold weather in the upper Midwest. I think the -35 below wind chill threshold is appropriate. A lot of kids walk to school and it is simply too dangerous, in my opinion.
