These allegations are incredible. Not only do they depict the movie as complete fiction, they depict it as a complete deception; 180 degrees askew from reality. As is often the case with these things it's possible these allegations are sour grapes talking. And it's also possible they're telling the truth. Most movies "based on actual events" are a lot like saying "Oh God" is based on the Bible. It's possible Phillips is neither the hero the movie portrays nor the villain the crew describes.
I'm told it's an excellent movie. But just like "Argo" and "Zero Dark Thirty" it appears an resemblance to reality is purely conincidental.
