This is the same city that feared guns held by law-abiding citizens. How much more wild west can it get? This piece focuses on what the rampant violence does to Emanuel's re-election prospects. If the New York experience of the early 1990's is any indication, he could be in real trouble.
If most Chicagoans feel this is a problem in a part of town that doesn't affect them, he might survive. But when crime came to snooty liberal neighborhoods of NYC, voters said enough. We'll see next year.
