Credit to Jason Widle of ESPNMilwaukee for getting all over the Packers latest dilemma at the running back position. My colleague on Sunday Sports Night Cover 2 on WBAY-TV first reported James Starks suffered a knee injury last week against the Vikings that while not requiring surgery, will force him to miss the rest of the regular season. Starks took a hit to the knee by Minnesota's Josh Robinson in the 4th Quarter and while he limped to the sideline, he returned to carry three more times. The Packers have made no mention of the injury since but reports have Starks headed to the injured reserve list. With only second year back Alex Green, fullback John Kuhn and up until last Saturday, practice squadder DeJuan Harris available, Wilde also reports the Packers have re-signed Ryan Grant to take Starks' roster spot. Grant was cut loose in the off-season after rushing for 4016 yards in five seasons. He spent two weeks on the Washington Redskins roster at mid-season but was released again. Starks meanwhile, gained 255 yards this season, 66 against Minnesota including a 22 yard touchdown run in another injury plagued year. He missed the first half of the season with a turf toe and has had trouble staying healthy in each of his three years on the team.
