The Packers worked out under the lights for the first time Thursday night on Ray Nitschke Field and a big crowd was on hand.  It was a prelude to the biggest night of training camp, the Family Night Scrimmage set for tonight at Lambeau Field.  The Packers say they've sold 70,000 tickets for the practice.

Last night's practice had the first "Move the Ball" period of camp and Aaron Rodgers got it started with a big play, finding Jordy Nelson deep after a double move beat Jarrett Bush.  The series ended with Rodgers scrambling before floating a pass to the back line where Jeremichael Finley made a diving touchdown catch.   The defense made a couple of plays too, Erik Walden drilled receiver Dale Moss after he caught a short crossing route and Morgan Burnett and Sam Shields made strong run supporting tackles. There was a sloppy side to the drill however with numerous offsides penalties against the defense and few offensive false starts.  The team also worked on special situations, like starting a drive backed up inside their own 10, running the four minute offense designed to protect a lead and finish a game, some no huddle and goal line work.

Several players were felled by injury although none are believed to be serious.  Brad Jones hurt his knee, D.J. Williams suffered a back injury, Ray Dominguez sprained an ankle, Sean Richardson injured his thumb and Jon Hoese pulled a hamstring.

Some interesting observers of practice included veteran Sports Illustrated NFL writer Don Banks and NFL on Fox insider Jay Glazer.   Former Packer and Wisconsin Badger Don Davey was also watching practice with his three daughters.   Davey spent four years with Green Bay before signing as a free agent and playing five seasons with the Jacksonville Jaguars.  Looking to keep the competitive juices flowing after football, Davey decided to give the triathalon a try.  He just returned from Frankfort, Germany where he competed with 2400 athletes in a triathalon, a 2 and a half mile swim, 114 mile bike ride and full marathon.  Needless to say, Don was in terrific shape.  He still lives in Florida but returned to his hometown of Manitowoc for a few days.
