Comings and goings for the Packers today.  Chad Clifton was released after failing his physical because of a lingering back injury from a year ago.  A second round pick in 2000, Clifton was a mainstay at left tackle for the Pack for a decade, starting 160 of the 165 games played in his 12 year career.  He twice made the pro bowl.   Clifton also dealt with some devastating injuries, a broken pelvis at the hands of Warren Sapp in Tampa Bay early in his career, chronic knee issues, shoulders and most recently the back.  General Manager Ted Thompson released a statement saying in part, Clifton, "was a member of some of the most prolific offenses in franchise history", and he was "a great person and teammate, we wish Chad and his family well."  Clifton's release will free up just over five million dollars in salary cap space in 2012.  The Packers also re-signed linebacker Erik Walden.  The unrestricted free agent joined the Pack in October of 2010 and last year, started 15 games, piling up a career high 86 tackles, three sacks and he returned a fumble for a touchdown.   Walden was an original 2008 draft choice of Dallas and played with both Kansas City and Miami before joining Green Bay.  He did have the off-field incident last year, involving a domestic violence charge.
