It ends at 297.  Brett Favre was inactive last night with a sprained right shoulder and didn't start an NFL game for the first time since September 27 of 1992.  He could only watch as his Vikings fell to the New York Giants 21-3 in the unlikely venue of Ford Field in Detroit  I covered that first start of his young career against the Pittsburgh Steelers and missed only a few of the 253 straight games in a Packers uniform.  There were sprained ankles, bruised ribs, broken thumbs and assorted other injuries that jeopardized the record run, but he trotted out of the tunnel every week.  The streak was often compared to Cal Ripken Jr's record of 2632 consecutive baseball games, a stretch that covered the equivalent of 16 and a quarter major league seasons.   Favre's total, extended the equal of 18 and a half seasons in a much more physically demanding sport.  While the divorce from Green Bay was both petty and bitter, it was a thrilling, mesmerizing 16 year marriage that at least produced one Super Bowl title.   The greedy sort would have wanted more but I hope Packers fans come to the realization they witnessed one of Pro Football's all time greats who produced both heart-stopping and hair pulling play and was there every Sunday because he simply loved to compete.

Aaron Rodgers will be laying low again today and probably undergo some cariovascular work Wednesday and have his brain activity measured following concussion number two last Sunday in Detroit.   By Thursday, Mike McCarthy hopes to have a better read on if he'll be able to play this week against the Patriots in Foxboro.  Linebacker Frank Zombo will be challenged by a knee sprain according to McCarthy, but offensive lineman Daryn Colledge should be able to work through a similar and less severe sprain.  Cullen Jenkins was wearing a walking boot Monday in the locker room.  He missed the Detroit game with a calf strain and said just standing on the sidelines inactive Sunday was extremely painful.  The New England game appears out of the question and there's a possibility Jenkins could join the injured reserve club and shut it down for the season.  If Rodgers is iffy at quarterback, Green Bay might have to activate Graham Harrell off the practice squad to have a backup available.  Jordy Nelson was the emergency quarterback last week against the Lions if something would have happened to Matt Flynn.  Finally, offensive line coach James Campen lit up his unit publicly on Monday.  He called the group's performance "embarassing" against the Lions, allowing 4 sacks and five running plays to be blown up for losses against an energized Detroit defensive line.
