Fact of the Day: Teachers Actually do Their Jobs

Posted by Jerry Bader on

PR flak for the Green Bay Area School District, Amanda "Stonewall" Brooker, is releasing a "fact of the day" as the district tries to fight the evil forces of school vouchers(for you in the education establishment, that's sarcasm), for which Green Bay might qualify under a budget proposal by Governor Walker. Here's Stonewall's fact for today:

With more than 4,100 students and almost 40 native languages, last year the Green Bay Area Public School District had the highest percentage of English Language Learner students in Wisconsin. With the hard work of our staff and students, last year alone 706 students were exited from the English Language Learner program as being English proficient.

Amazing, their job is to teach children English, and they did it! This "fact" is the product of the belief that teachers have the hardest job in the world. Truthfully, without anything to compare it to, how do we know how impressive a number 706 is? And of course this is a herculean feat that only PUBLIC teachers could accomplish(again, for the education establishment, that's sarcasm).
