I asked this week on the show why President Obama would pick a fight with the nomination of Chuck Hagel as Defense Secretary. My point was Obama could easily get a Democratic nominee through the Democratically controlled Senate. The only answer was Obama felt he needed somebody with an "R" behind his name to lend credibility to something significant he wanted to do with Defense. This would answer that question. 

The problem is Republicans certainly no longer consider Hagel of of their own. Had he supported John McCain in 2008, perhaps
