What a crock this is. Facebook claims it pulled advertising for talk show host Mike Gallagher's book "50 Things Liberals Love to Hate" because the title includes the word "hate." Gallagher says when pressed Facbook conceded it received complaints.

I said on the air today that this is how some other social network will topple Facebook. They apply their near monopolistic power to make users feel as though they are privileged to be customers of Facebook. Some day someone will provide excellent customer service and won't have an obviously liberal bias.

Facebook has a right to cave to liberal complaints, it's a private entity. But it is very bad business that you can only get away with when you have the field pretty much to yourself. I'm not saying it'll happen overnight, but Facebook generally treats customers poorly; they are impossible to get hold of and they suddenly ban users for violating rules they didn't even know exists.

These practices threaten Facebook a lot more seriously than does its sinking stock price. Someday, someone will take advantage.
