This is an issue that has cut across ideological lines. Some conservatives have argued that greater disclosure of medical mistakes is really nothing more than the Holy Grail of ambulance chasing lawyers and that hospitals and doctors would be buried under lawsuits; that such disclosure is, in essence, confessing to medical malpractice. I think this is a legitimate concern, but I also believe the medical profession hiding dangerously incompetent doctors is at least as great a concern.
