And Our Parents of the Year Award Winners Are...

Two of the coldest human beings God ever put on this planet. As this piece points out, this kid can read without three of his four limbs and he's going to learn that his parents sued because he was born alive. The puzzling part here is they didn't want amniocentesis done because they feared miscarriage.

And I could go on all day about the parents, but this paragraph from the piece makes a critically important point:

“This is a truly shocking decision from the court. It perpetuates the myth that life is not worth living if you have a disability and indicates a chillingly utilitarian view of personhood. Children are not commodities and we cannot dispose of them when they fail to meet our expectations, either in appearance or ability. This view safeguards life and prevents the callous and barbaric treatment of those born, or about to be born, with disabilities.”

I hope and pray that all of this inspires Bryan to lead a life that exceeds the limitations life has placed on him. And I hope and pray one day his parents come to accept him as the gift from God that he is. And I hope and pray one day we recognize as a society there is no such thing as a "wrongful" birth.
