Here's my position on newspaper endorsements; I don't think they mean all that much. Newspapers are still influential, contrary to what some conservatives think. But I don't think they're the opinion shapers they once may have been(and I think at one time they were).

That said...a paper flipping for Romney is newsworthy and could have an impact in an unexpected way. I still argue there are those who feel they need to vote for the person of color in the race to make some kind of statement about themselves. A liberal paper bolting just might make them realize it's okay to vote for Romney.
