The Thompson campaign has been content to coast with a seemingly large lead. But PPP says it's going to release a poll tomorrow showing businessman Eric Hovde with a small lead over Thompson. I'm told the "inside the numbers, numbers" look even better for Hovde. A Marqeutte Law School poll is expected later this week. Hovde's internals show it a two man race between Thompson and him.

If an onslaught of "Tommy backed Obamacare" advertising is coming, it would have to come soon. We're creeping on a month from this election. Because of the Governor's recall election, the compressed nature of this election is deceiving. And now the game could get complex. If Mark Neumann and or Jeff Fitzgerald attack Thompson, all Hovde would have to do is keep running positive ads. If FitzNeumann attacks Hovde/Thompson, who knows what happens.

Whatever is going to happen, it's going to happen soon.
