Given the tremendous amount of money Eric Hovde has spent on what most consider very effectively designed advertising, this wouldn't surprise me.  But thus far only Hovde's (and Tammy Baldwin's) internals are show this. And there has been only one public poll, which shows a much bigger lead for Thompson and Hovde in third.

The Marquette Law School poll also showed about a quarter of voters undecided, which I can believe. Thompson is by far the best known Republican in Wisconsin. I can believe he's still leading. I can also believe Hovde has pulled into second place. Let's see how many public polls there are between now and August 14th.
