Specifically, they want providers required to save the data for two years. As the linked story points out, texts have already become a data gold mine for law enforcement. This story has been out for a couple of days and I've heard it mentioned on other shows. I'm usually very pro law enforcement; but does the government have any business telling providers how long they need to store this data?
