Ivory Tower Persecution

Posted by Jerry Bader on

I blogged on this last month. The point of this piece is that the effort to stifle intellectual freedom comes from within academia. The left has often complained that conservatives from outside the Ivory Tower have tried to stifle them on campus, a complaint with seemingly little merit given liberals own academe.

But what's happening here is an effort from within the academic community to discredit social science research with which the liberal academic establishment disagrees. This is beyond chilling. But it is consistent with the Alinsky-driven MO of the left today. Don't debate the opposition; stifle them. You saw it in Wisconsin with Scott Walker and you're seeing it on the national stage with Paul Ryan.

The liberals within the Ivory Tower don't want to debate whether straight couples make better parents than gay couples. They don't want to even consider evidence that might create a debate. They want to treat as a heretic anyone who would give the notion serious academic consideration. And because this is happening within the walls of universities, it is extremely difficult to fight.
