I really get tired of these stories. Yes, I understand the owner of the apartment complex has the right to make these rules. But I am completely mystified by their rationale for it:
...Randy Rich, the property manager, said in a statement, "Our policies do not allow any type of flags, banners, or political or religious material to be displayed in the windows of the apartments. This policy was developed to insure that we are fair to everyone as we have many residents from diverse backgrounds."
Excuse me? "This policy was developed to insure that we are fair to everyone as we have many residents from diverse backgrounds." How about being fair by letting them display whatever they want? And while I respect the property owners' rights here, you also have some rights as the person occupying the property as a paying renter. Whether or not they're on firm legal ground or not, this is an idiotic rule. And yes, I believe an exception should be made for the American flag. My position is if you're offended by the flag, there is something wrong with you, not the flag or the person flying it.
