"I encourage you this evening to uphold the true religion in this land," said Alastair Matthews, of Kiel. "I encourage you this evening to decline the permit for a mosque in our midst."
Matthews believes the First Amendment protects the freedom of the "true religion in this land?" He sounds more like a Muslim extremist than he can ever imagine. 90 minutes of public comment about religion when all the board had before it was land issues. Islamic extremism is responsible for most terrorism today. But the abject fear opponents hold of all Islam as a result doesn't allow for the First Amendment right to worship to be abridged. Yes, it really is that simple.
