Proposal to Drop Saturday Mail Delivery is Pushed Again

Posted by Jerry Bader on

I don't know about you, but I don't think this proposal would have much impact on my life. About all we get in the mail these days are bills and greeting cards. And all I ever send are bills and greeting cards. And if I'd use more of the online bill-paying options, I would hardly send anything.

I think the reality is the Postal Service is going to have to face the reality that it may be close to becoming obsolete. And if there were NO restrictions on  completely private companies competing with EVERYTHING the Postal Service does, it would have been long gone by now. I do realize that some people haven't shifted entirely to email and other forms of online communication, but that number dwindles every day. Is it too bold of a prediction to say that ten years from now the Postal Service as we know it today won't exist?
