Easterbrook argues Favre did it because he has to be the one to win the game; he has to throw the dramatic touchdown, rather than get them in position for the game-winning field goal. He goes on to argue that Favre has craved attention in recent years and this was one more example. I disagree. Brett Favre, did in fact, have to carry teams for much of his career. As a result, he never learned to stop trying to do to much. He did for most of this year. But a career long tendency showed itself at the worst possible time. That's my theory.
