John McCain ripped President Obama for this comment earlier last week. Sarah Palin took her turn Saturday night. This is another one of these great liberal Freudian slips, but this is one of the greatest of all time. Liberals go into mega denial when you accuse them of resenting their own country's military might. They resent that we are the greatest military power on the planet. They know they can't admit it publicly, but they would love to see that change (think Howard Dean circa 2003, musing about how American should prepare for the day when we are no longer the preeminent military power).
The left has been preparing for and hoping for the day when we are no longer the preeminent military power for years. Again, they won't admit this publicly, but some on the left actually would prefer a Soviet Union type counter-balance to our dominance. They have contempt for the U.S. Military that was born in the Vietnam War. They see our military as generally a force for evil, not good. Again, not ALL on the left, but many of them. Obama was speaking to them with this "we're the dominant military superpower whether we like it or not?"
Regardless of the burdens it carries with it, I thank God we are the dominant military power on this planet. Who would Obama, or anybody else on the left, like to see take our place? This is a shocking comment that, so far, has received little notice from the MSM.
