Should Parents Have The Choice?

by David Kuharski

When Julie and I married each other, I became an instant Dad to her son Caleb, who was on the cusp of going into school.  Right away I found myself pondering what steps we should take for Caleb.  Should we home school? Should we send him to public school?  What about a private Christian school?  Could we afford some of these options?  What was best for Caleb?

We made the decision, not living in Wisconsin at the time, and have continued down the road since.  But, one factor that never played a role in our decision making was school vouchers.  Would this have changed our mind?  I don't know.  I do know we felt convicted to do what the Lord called us to do.

Now, lawmakers in Madison are considering the expansion of the Governor Walker's private school voucher to 9 more districts around the state.  In my title I asked, "Should parents have the choice?"

There are arguments for and against.  What do you think?
