3 foods to avoid as a Paleo runner (no cheating allowed)

As running goes, inflamed joints are an expected downfall of the sport. It's important to identify the foods that can cause our bodies even more inflammation. Paleo runners already are aware of the foods to avoid while following the diet, but the following 3 foods shouldn't be an exception even if your having a "cheat day". 

1. Sugar

The intake of sugar causes inflammation and chronic diseases such as metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. 

2. Dairy

Researchers think that being able to digesting milk is actually an abnormal function for our bodies to perform after infancy. Milk is also a common allergen that can trigger inflammatory responses and stomach problems which can inhibit overall health. 

3. Alcohol

Regular high consumption of alcohol causes irritation and inflammation of the esophagus, larynx and liver. Over time, the irritation can even shut down organ function completely. Also as a runner the dehydration effect from alcohol consumption is dangerous to training. 

Staying away from these inflammation-causing foods will help you any runner in their everyday training.
